LSU Law Acceptance Rate and Admission Process
Note that acceptance rate may vary from year to year so the acceptance rate today can be different from that of tomorrow. Currently, LSU’s acceptance rate stands at 52.5%. To increase your chances of acceptance, it’s advisable to submit a complete application as early as possible, as LSU offers rolling admissions and begins sending decision notifications in late fall.
The admissions process considers various factors beyond LSAT scores and GPA. While the median LSAT score of the last entering class was 157, and the median GPA was 3.62, the Admissions Committee also assesses your grades, grade trends, undergraduate course selection, leadership abilities, time management skills, personal statement, letters of recommendation, work experiences, life experiences, and any obstacles you have overcome.

While specific ranking figures may vary depending on the source and the year, LSU consistently maintains a strong position among the top law schools in the nation. They currently ranks as the no.99 among law schools in the US and the second in Louisiana, behind Tulane Law School.
LSAT Scores and GPA
LSAT scores and GPA are essential components of your application to LSU Law. It is crucial to aim for high a LSAT and GPA especially in the 75th percentile. LSAT scores for the currently enrolled students in the 25th-75th percentile is 154-159 while that of the GPA is 3.37-3.79. These numbers provide a benchmark for aspiring students, but it’s essential to remember that the admissions process considers a holistic view of applicants, with other factors being equally significant. Therefore, while LSAT and GPA are essential, applicants should also focus on strengthening other aspects of their application to increase their chances of acceptance.
Transferring to LSU Law
LSU Law Center welcomes transfer applications from students who have satisfactorily completed the full first-year curriculum at a law school accredited by the American Bar Association. If you’re considering transferring to LSU Law, there are essential criteria to keep in mind. A maximum of 32 credits can be accepted for transfer, and credit is transferable based on grades of “C” or better (2.0 or equivalent).
Students with pass/fail or pass/no credit grades due to COVID-19 are also encouraged to apply for transfer. However, the Law Center reserves the right to refuse credit, and transfer applicants must provide a statement from their current law school’s dean certifying their good standing and eligibility for continued enrollment.
To apply as a transfer student, submit a completed application and the required documents, including a resumé, a letter of good standing from each law school attended, and a current LSAT/CAS report. The Admissions Committee will consider petitions for admission with advanced standing on a case-by-case basis.
If you’re denied admission as a transfer student, you’re encouraged to apply as a non-matriculating student, as that process involves approval by your current law school’s dean.
